Therapeutic effect of flubendazole in the intestinal nematode infections

Abstract
This study was done to evaluate the effectiveness of flubendazole in the treatment of Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura and Enterobius vermieularis infections.
Sixty-five pediatric patients aging 10-14 years, was given orally to single dose of flubendazole 500mg. Stool examination and scotch taped anal swab method were performed both before and 21 days after the administration.
The cure rates were: Ascariasis 90%(9/10), trichuriasis 77.8%(14/18) and enterobiasis 100%(41/41). And egg reduction rates were ascariasis 97.5% and trichuriasis 84.0%.
The overall results suggest that flubendazole is highly prospective in the treatment of intestinal nematode infections.
